FCA Recalls Ram ProMaster

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles issued a recall for 224 2018 Ram ProMaster City vans because the gears within the hydraulic rack and pinion steering system may have a defect causing steering fluid to leak.

The defect “may result in a crack and loss of hydraulic fluid potentially resulting in sudden increased steering efforts” that could result in a crash, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.

The affected vehicles were produced between Oct. 2-8, 2017.

FCA plans to notify individual owners starting around April 25. Dealers will inspect the steering gear housing and replace the defective rack-and-pinion assembly at no cost.
